Choosing an Ionizer
Choosing an Ionizer
We have 2 portable ionizing pitchers. These are used by pouring water into the units, and the water is alkalized and made available for drinking within minutes. The way they work is similar to Brita units. However, the whatever contains a high pH and a low ORP, plus it contains suitable minerals. The structure of the water is not changed as this can only be done by the process of electrolysis, but we believe this is the best method to be used when you’re “On the Go”.
Yes, these do work well but we typically recommend a "pitcher" product - either the Waterman Pitcher or the Phresh pitcher. These can be used with regular unfiltered tap water and both effectively eliminate bacteria, chlorine and other chemicals as well as VOC's. The Waterman Portable Pitcher sells right now for $55 and the Phresh Pitcher for $159.
If we go with a unit for the home we prefer someone who has been in the business for more than 5 years and has a good local (US) presence"
The companies who have been in the water ionizer business in the United States the longest are Watershed - owned by Bob McCauley, author of "The Miraculous Properties of Ionized Water," and Jupiter - also known as IonWays/IonLife and the first company to offer service and repair in the United States. Both of these companies have excellent customer service and wonderful reputation for the safety, quality, and support of their products.
The 2 most popular alternatives to the Enagic SD501 are the KYK Genesis and the Tyent 7070 followed by the KYK Harmony and the Jupiter Athena. The customers find minimal or no difference in the taste and texture of the water and they are all achieving the same personal results as they were when they were drinking Enagic water.
Please can you list your first pick for $2,000.00 water ionizer, and your first pick for $1,000.00 unit.
My first choices in the $1,000 price range would be the KYK Products.
I use a Harmony myself and have been very happy with it. I chose it because I travel frequently and take it with me. The flat plates drain more efficiently than the mesh which leaves me less drain time before I feel comfortable packing it up to go. Otherwise I would have gone with the Genesis which has mesh plates, dual filtration, a more advanced cleaning system and higher wattage. The KYK products have higher wattage and greater plate surface area than the other models in the $1,000 - $1,500 price range.
KYK Genesis: $1,399
KYK Harmony: $1,199
Both KYK products are shipped with an under-the-sink install kit at no additional cost. 15-20 minute installation, no plumber required.
My recommendations in the $2,000 price range would be the Tyent MMP7070 or the Jupiter Athena.
Both of these products are dual filter with mesh plates.
Both of these machines are lower wattage machines but both have voice prompts instead of the "beeping" that the KYK products use for alerts and more settings. The Athena also has other attractive features such as easy adjustability, sleek appearance, and is backed by excellent customer service and safety controls.
Tyent MMP7070 $1995
Jupiter Athena $1995
