[...] During the process of ionization, water molecules are split apart and a negative hydroxyl ion is formed. Inside the electrolysis/ionization chamber there are negative and positive poles. Water containing negatively charged (alkaline) minerals are drawn to one side while water containing positively charged (acidic) minerals are drawn to the other. Each “type” of water is dispensed through a separate outlet. (for a more detailed explanation please read “How Alkaline Water Works in the Body”) [...]

hi,

I have been drinking alkaline water for close to a decade. Without a doubt, its the best for me and i believe i'm much healthier now. Alkaline water is an excellent antioxidant, with its smaller molecular structure it is easily penetrated into our cells to detoxify. There are two type of alkaline machine. One that uses electricity to ionize the water while the latter uses natural minerals and substance to achieve the alkaline effects. i personally uses both and would like to share and hear your opinion on the different types. rene

Hello, Roberto -

The most popular models around $1,500 are the Watershed AQ700 and the KYK Generation II. I've heard that other dealers sell a lot of the Jupiter Melody model but most people who contact me are asking about either the KYK or the Watershed.

Why are these models so popular? The amount of machine you get for the money. Both the AQ700 and the KYK Generation 2 are 7-plate models that allow the user to "tune" the alkaline presets for the best performance based on your source water. The Jupiter Melody, which sells for $1,595 has 5 plates and the presets are not adjustable - but the Melody has been one of Jupiter/IonLife's best selling models since it was first launched many years ago. It's easy to use, has a flow control knob on the front of the unit and has a good track record for overall reliability. If you need to raise or lower the alkalinity of the water at any of the presets you can do this by increasing or decreasing the flow rate using the knob on the front of the unit.

The AQ700 from Watershed sells for $1,499 - One of the first water ionizers I got for myself was a Watershed product. The company is reliable and responsive whenever there is a customer/technical support issue that is beyond my own expertise. I've got a lot of happy Watershed customers.

If you have considered an under-counter or "faucet-style" water ionizer, Watershed's Odyssey under-counter model is on sale through the holiday season for $1,490 - it usually sells for $1,995. It has a triple filtration system and filter replacement cost, even for the triple cartridge system, is comparable to replacement filter costs for most other models.

Since my first week online as the "Water Ionizer Authority" the KYK Genesis has been my top selling water ionizer. Earlier this year KYK launched the upgraded "Generation 2" model - the basic features, functions and operation are the same but the Gen2 operates on 250 watts of power where the original KYK Genesis was a 150 watt unit. The new Gen2 also has a 7-year warranty covering parts & labor. Customers seem to choose the KYK for the features and functions available for the $1,500 price. The KYK products have been reliable and customers have been happy with them.

You can compare these products side-by-side using the "compare" function in our store - just click the "add to compare" link below the add to cart buttons in the store, then you'll see a "compare products" button in the right sidebar - it will bring up a comparison page showing the specifications, features and functions of each model side-by-side.

The link below will take you to the main store page - you'll find the products by clicking on the manufacturer name in the left sidebar or through the "shop by manufacturer" drop down menu across the top of the store site.

Hi Romi! I'm looking for a water ionizer for my wife (and family) for Xmas; there is so much info; it's worse than buying a car. My budget is $1500; could you recommend a model that popular? Why is it so popular? I know that you are very busy and I really appreciate your time and effort. Roberto

Excellent research! Found out the same thing over a year ago --- there was much angst among Enagic reps about this because Enagic USA was powerless to stop the marketing of nearly identical ionizers for substantially less. Mr. Oshiro is like the Oriental symbol of the snake eating its tail ... cannibalism their market in the US with their own product for less. But of course, others do the same ... Tyent USA marketing the KWK under another name.

In any case, thanks for posting these facts. Maybe someday Enagic dealers will actually open their mind to the truth of how their leader has betrayed them.
