Choosing an Ionizer
If we go with a unit for the home
If we go with a unit for the home
If we go with a unit for the home we prefer someone who has been in the business for more than 5 years and has a good local (US) presence"
The companies who have been in the water ionizer business in the United States the longest are Watershed - owned by Bob McCauley, author of "The Miraculous Properties of Ionized Water," and Jupiter - also known as IonWays/IonLife and the first company to offer service and repair in the United States. Both of these companies have excellent customer service and wonderful reputation for the safety, quality, and support of their products.
Having tested their products and dealt with their customer service departments, we recommend the Jupiter products, particularly the Melody or the Athena. We have found these two machines to produce high quality water consistently, plus their filtration is excellent, creating wonderful tasting water.
Personally, I use a KYK Harmony and have been very happy with the little unit. My father uses an EC550 from Watershed and won't stop talking about how much he loves it. One of our customers uses an Enagic SD501.
Our customer with the Enagic SD501 has been unhappy with her unit as it has not been performing. After sending it off for two weeks for "repairs" it was returned to her and they said that nothing was wrong with the unit. Still she is unable to get PH levels above 9.2 at this time. I can pull a 10.2 from my Harmony any day of the week and my father gets 9.7 from his EC550 every day as well.
KYK has only been in the US for about 2 years but they are a growing company and we have many happy KYK customers. KYK is one of the top 2 selling water ionizer companies in Korea.
Tyent has only been doing this for about 2 years as well but are growing in sales volume, company size and service & reliability.
Enagic has also had a U.S. presence for over 5 years however many people are choosing other companies due to price issues and also reports of long waits for repairs. Most water ionizer companies will have your unit repaired and back to you within 5 business days. Some provide a loaner unit and some even ship a replacement/loaner unit to you and have you send the problem unit back to them in the box your replacement came in.
When you get closer to making a decision you want to consider how you will be taken care of should you have any issues with the unit during the warranty period. If you have questions about "service after sale" on any company, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to provide detailed information for you.
Also, when shopping, beware of too good to be true pricing. Many companies are voiding warranty and returns on units sold below authorized dealer pricing. We strictly adhere to the sales guidelines for all units that we sell to ensure that our customers have full service and support long after the sale of their unit.
