TERM DEFINITION Activated Carbon A form of carbon used in filtration.  Activated carbon has been processed to maximize porousness for the purpose of absorption. Activated Alumina Rated “BAT” or “Best Available Technology” by the EPA for fluoride reduction in drinking water. Alkalife Alkalife is a multi-level-marketing structured company providing water ionizers and other health products in the United States and around the world.  Unlike some multi-level marketing companies, Alkalife prices are within range of non-MLM water ionizer resellers. Alkazone Alkazone is the product brand name for Better Health Labs, Inc., a company who has been producing water ionizers since 1994.  The company was originally founded under the name Siloam Enterprise. Biostone Filter BioStone filters are 9 layer filters consisting of silver impregnated carbon, granular carbon, calcium, ceramic tourmaline and five fiber filters Ceramic Filter Ceramic is an inexpensive material used for filtration because of it's ability to absorb particles and bacteria. EOS EOS was primarily a parts manufacturer for water ionizer companies in Asia.  In 2010 the company began assembling and manufacturing water ionizers.  EOS water ionizers are primarily sold through Water for Life USA and that company’s dealers in the US. Electrolysis Electrolysis is the use of an electrical charge to separate compounds and chemically bonded elements.  Specifically related to water ionizers, electrolysis is the method by which the H2O molecule is decomposed into its separate elements. Enagic Enagic is a multi-level marketing company offering water ionizers from Japan.  You will find the name "Enagic" used interchangeably with "Kangen" as the company has trademarked the phrase "Kangen Water" for their own use and promotion. Jupiter/IonWays Jupiter has been manufacturing and selling water ionizers for over 20 years in Korea.  In the US, Jupiter water ionizers are marketed under the company name  IonWays.  Jupiter claims to have the lowest return rate of any water ionizer product but this cannot be confirmed.  Jupiter has been offering service on their products in the US for longer than most other water ionizer companies. Kangen Water Kangen Water is water that has been restored to its natural state - hexagonally structured and micro-clustered.  Enagic has trademarked the term "Kangen Water" and Enagic fans and representatives often claim that only an Enagic or "Kangen" water ionizer/water machine will produce Kangen Water.  This is not true.  All water ionizers produce what can easily be called "kangen water" which is simply ionized water, hexagonal in structure in micro-clusters. KFDA Korean Food & Drug Administration - Korea's equivalent to the United States FDA. KMP Ceramic filter Ceramic filtration using 3-types of ceramic: K ceramic has plenty of minerals and makes water stable because this ceramic has been baked from clay fermented by EM.  (effective microorganisms found/created naturally for effective cleaning/purification of bad microorganisms) M ceramic keeps the balance of ions. It is anion ceramic (anion ceramic granules are commonly used in filters for air purification and other purification type filters) P ceramic has plenty of inorganic minerals, gives good heat conductivity and dissolves nutrients well to convert into the ingredients for human body to react well. (frequently used in heating elements in things like hair dryers) KYK KYK has been manufacturing and selling water ionizers for over 20 years in Korea.  In the US, KYK water ionizers were marketed under the company Water For Life USA until early 2010.  KYK water ionizers are now sold through KYK USA.  KYK is one of the "low price leaders" in the water ionizer market.  Like Watershed and Rejuvenator, KYK has accepted lower profits per sale on their products in order to make this technology available to a greater number of  consumers for the purpose of restoring health and increasing longevity and improving quality of life. LIFE LIFE has been selling water ionizers in the United States since around 2001.  The LIFE company may be one of the more aggressive water ionizer companies with regard to advertising and marketing.  The parent company, EarthTrade Water owns multiple websites which offer LIFE water ionizer products for sale along with other brands of water ionizers.  Water Ionizer Authority no longer represents the LIFE water ionizer company for ethical reasons although we have not had any issues with any of the products we sold on their behalf prior to our decision to end our business relationship with that company. ORP Oxidation Reduction Potential - This refers to the ability of a substance to "reduce oxidation."  With regard to water, a high negative ORP indicates an increased ability to draw toxins into it for release. Tyent USA has been operating for almost two years and is one of the more popular brand names in water ionizers. Water Ionizer A water ionizer is a device which changes the molecular structure of water through the process of electrolysis.  The water is separated into an alkaline and an acid fraction.  The H2O molecule (2 hydrogen & one oxygen atom) is spit to create one negatively charged hydroxyl ion (alkaline) and one positively charged hydrogen ion (acid).  This change in structure allows water to cluster in hexagonal form which is the preferred structure for all biological organisms.  The negatively charged hydroxyl ion increases the oxidation reduction potential (ORP) of the water.  The new hexagonal structure of the water allows the body to better absorb the water and the minerals it carries.  The increased ORP increases the water's ability to absorb toxins for release from the body. WaterShed Watershed is a health products company owned by author and natural health expert Bob McCauley.  Bob McCauley's books include "The Miraculous Properties of Ionized Water" and "Confessions of a Body Builder."  Watershed is one of the low price leaders in water ionizers who have accepted lower profits per sale in order to make water ionizers available to a larger segment of the population.
