Tyent has stepped up to the plate in a big way with their newest water ionizer. Knowing the importance of plate size in a water ionizer they've created the 7070 model - a 7 plate water ionizer with 245 inches of mesh surface area - rivalling the 245 flat plate surface area of Enagic's SD501 but at half the price. This dual filtration, SMPS unit has all of the features and fuctions of Tyent's best-selling 5050 model but with greater and more reliable ionizing power thanks to the two additional plates, greater plate surface area and internal automatic sensors.

Designed to Perform

Understanding the interplay between plate size, power and chamber design, Tyent's 7070 is designed to perform on 180 watts of SMPS power. By creating an internal chamber that allows for longer contact between the water and the plates, the 7070 is able to produce alkaline water at up to 11.0 with and ORP rating as high as -700. As always, individual results will vary based on your source water - and remember, unless you are under the care and direction of a health care professional, consuming water with a negative ORP greater than 350 (that's -350) on a regular basis is not recommended.

The 7070 offers 5 pre-set PH levels including 3 alkaline, 1 neutral and 2 acidic with the availability of adjustments within each individual setting level. The unit has an automatic adjustment capability to maximize the effectiveness of the ionization process. This automatically detects your source water quality and adjusts itself internally to ensure the water remains in contact with the plates for a sufficient period of time to create the desired level of alkalinity in the water.

As a user I can say that both the set-up and use is about as simple as it gets. The voice guide lets you know what type of water is being dispensed at each level. We like the touch-activated display screen and the simplicity of the controls. Filter life and water strength are displayed and the screen changes colors based on the water selected.

Filtration

The 7070 is a dual filtration water ionizer. The first filter is a standard ACF (activated carbon filtration) filter using silver activated carbon for purification and particle removal.

The 2nd filter is more advanced using KMP filtration media to mildy ionize water before it reaches the chamber, maximizing the performance of the unit and further eliminate VOC's and contaminants from the water.

To ensure optimal filtration performance, a filter life indicator is always present so that you know when it's time to replace your filters. Each filter has a life of 6 to 8 months or 3,600 liters. Even if your usage is less than that it is recommended that you replace your filters at least every 12 months. While the silver activation in the carbon eliminates bacteria and prevents bacterial growth within the filter after about 12 months its effectiveness lessens. It is therefore recommended that you not use the same filter for more than 12 months to ensure healthy, bacteria free drinking water.

Warranty & Money Back Guaranty

Tyent stands behind the 7070 with a full 10-year warranty on parts and labor. This is the longest standard parts & labor warranty in the industry.

Should you have a performance problem with your unit during the warranty period which cannot be corrected through contact with Tyent's technical support department, the company will cover all repairs or replace the unit if repairs cannot be made quickly. Tyent never wants you to have to go without ionized water and has set up this warranty/replacement process to ensure that you always have access to clean, healthy, ionized water.

If, after trying the Tyent MMP7070 you decide it's not for you, Tyent offers the standard 60-day money back guaranty on its 7070 model. If you are unhappy with the product for any reason within the first 60 days you may return the unit for a refund less the standard 15% restocking fee. As with all returns, the product must be shipped back in its original packaging with all hoses, manuals and other materials originally shipped with the product and the unit must be still be in "new" condition - free of scratches or dings. As always on returns, the customer is responsible for return shipping charges.

Summary & Conclusions

While we prefer a higher wattage machine, the Tyent 7070 does seem to have accounted for the lower wattage by designing the unit to maintain water contact with the plates through its automated internal sensors. Also, while most people are interested in a water ionizer for alkaline water, those of you looking for acid water for cleaning and also skin treatments should be aware that often the PH only goes as low as 5.0 on the acid side. As with all water ionizers, the strongest acid water will always come from the acid drain hose when the unit is set at the highest alkaline setting.

That being said, the Tyent 7070 was built to perform as an alkaline water producing ionizer and perform is just what it does. The 7070 has become one of our most requested products. UPDATE! (March 2010)

Originally, the only drawback to the Tyent 7070 was its ability to produce acid water below a 5.0 in most areas. This issue had been addressed as part of Tyent's ongoing efforts to provide the highest quality water ionizer products to consumers. Late in 2009 they made changes to the unit which allow it to now produce stronger acid water. Most customers are now able to acheive acid levels of 4.0 and even lower in some source water areas.

Also, in early 2010 Tyent announced that all MMP7070 water ionizers will now carry a standard 10-year warranty on parts and labor. This is the best "parts & labor" warranty in the industry and speaks to the company's confidence in the quality of their 7070 model.
